ONLY ONE PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT
ONLY ONE PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT
Here we are in the midst of finishing up the preparations for Christmas. We are down to the wire now, last days to grab those last few things.
As I look at my packages,I have to admit I am a bit disappointed in many of them. In the old days, it was so different.
We picked a day, got up early and headed out to the mall and department stores. We had a list of ideas, and separated agreeing on a time a place in the store to meet up. We loved the hiding behind racks when we accidentally ended up in the same department as another family member. When we met up at the time and place, we all looked like the cat that swallowed the canary. Hiding our excitement in what we had purchased for each other as well as the items, was no easy task. We didn't want to give away any hints to what we had found.
This Christmas and most recent years, I have to admit, most of my shopping is done online. Amazon, my go to place to search out ideas I have for each person. Most years, though missing the old way of shopping, I have been still satisfied and excited to give most gifts.
This year I have had a lot going on in my personal life so I thought perhaps my disappointment came from my Bah humbug spirit. But in talking with our daughter, it isn't just me.
Many of the items I purchased arrived and are less than the quality I expected or felt the price reflected. Some items actually are non-returnable, so they must be given whether I like them or not.
Our daughter had called me up very upset with quality of items she also had been so excited about. She is very creative and actually has a degree in graphic design. She creates really unique and special gifts. But in doing so, she must rely on companies to take her design and turn it into the gift in come cases.
As she and I vented to each other about these unsatisfactory gifts we now had to give as time is now limited to even try to exchange, I suddenly had this come to me, "Dawn, there is only one perfect Christmas gift, you are missing the point all together right now!"
Friends, God gave us the only perfect gift. He delivered to us his son, wrapped in a simple clothe, lying in a manger. He gave us the gift that keeps on giving, as his son grew to be a man that gave up his life so that we could live.
His perfect gift was his son dying for our sins so that we can have eternal life.
Does it really matter what is under the tree? We cannot find a perfect gift, because only one exists and that is the Baby Jesus born for us.
God sent me that reminder during my conversation with our daughter. "Dawn, there is only one perfect Christmas gift, it is my son, focus on him, because that is what is the true reason for the season!"
Be Blessed my Friends!
May Jesus be for you the best gift ever! If you haven't accepted that gift, don't miss out! It comes with no expiration date, no returns, believe in him and be given the gift of eternal life....now that is the best gift ever!!!
Merry Christmas ,
